Reliance Jio launches JioInteract, an AI-based video platform

It seems like Reliance Jio has hopped on the Artifical Intelligence bandwagon as well. The telecom giant launced what it calls as the “world’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) based brand engagement platform – JioInteract”. JioInteract is an AI-based platform which listens to users’ questions and responds accordingly. JioInteract has an auto-learning feature -- it follows the principles of AI and machine learning -- that helps improve the answering accuracy.

Among the many features that will be available JioInteract, Live Video Call is where users can chat with celebrities. In a press release issued by the company, it further revealed that services such as video call centres, video catalogue, and virtual showrooms will soon be added. JioInteract could be used as a tool for movie promotion as it is doing with its Live Video Call service.
To give an idea of how the platform will work – for movie promotions and users – it has roped in Amitabh Bachchan to promote the actor’s latest movie. Live Video call will allow Jio and other smartphone subscribers to make a video call with Amitabh Bachchan anytime during the day, starting on 4th May 2018. One has download the MyJio app to access this feature. On the app, there’s a JioInteract icon where users can start the video call and chat with the Bollywood actor.

The company has also added the Share option where subscribers can also share their video call experience with their family and friends.

Relaince Jio is positioning JioInteract as VCBaaS (Video Call Bot as a Service) which uses multimedia capabilities along with AI and video call technologies. The company, in its press release, stated that it has plans to take it to B2C space. Reliance Jio is also looking to tap into the developer ecosystem as it intends to create applications like virtual showrooms and product demonstrations.
